NEBUCHADNEZZAR
Definition
King of Chaldea, was the son of Nabopolassar, the founder of the Babylonian empire, and he reigned 605-561 B.C. His marriage to Amyitis of Media united the Medes and the Chaldeans. During his reign, he rebuilt all the cities of upper Babylonia and constructed vast temples, palaces, etc., including the famous hanging gardens of Babylon. He conquered Syria and Judah, captured Jerusalem and carried away as captives a part of its inhabitants.
