MOUNT OF OLIVES
Definition
A hill overlooking Jerusalem on the east and so near the walls that from its summit amost every street in the city can be seen. The mount was once covered with olive trees, but is now almost bare, except at the foot in the Garden of Gethsemane. Titus destroyed all the trees at the siege in 70 A.D. It is memorable for many important and solemn events connected with the life of Christ.
